2012 In this narrative series I chose inane, unassociated texts and line drawings from antique textbooks, recontextualized them, and embellished them scenically to create tension in a dramatic arc. The narrative explores what happens to children when they are dominated by oppression—not just by an individual perpetrator but also by a culture that forbids their own story. Taboo cements original trauma into a permanent burden. Will these children rectify the past in their future? Or will oppression prevail?

2013 (Sold) I incorporated reverse printing techniques and pointillist painting in order to recreate the dazzling microscopic world as an alternative to glitzy human nightlife. One generates life; one spends it. Using a combination of a technique left to chance and one micromanaged by the artist, this piece explores the tension between spontaneity and embellishment.

2013 (Sold) The octopus inspires creativity and audacity. With brain cells in their tentacles, octopi are incredibly sentient, tasting with their suckers and lithely escaping confinement by fitting through any space the size of their mouths. Modern life is demanding. If only we could all be so sentient, agile, and multi-tasking, pursuing our ambitions with grace while resisting confinement.
